Pro Bono Technology Program

    More margin for your mission.

Ark40 Consulting provides free technology services to small nonprofits — AI automation, web development, and strategic tech consulting — so your team can focus on the work that matters most.

    Why Pro Bono

    Small nonprofits deserve enterprise-grade tools.

Most small nonprofits operate on lean budgets, stretched teams, and technology that hasn't kept pace with the work they're doing. The gap between what's available and what's accessible leaves organizations doing manually what should be automated, running websites that don't reflect the quality of their mission, and making decisions without the data to support them.

Ark40 was built to close that gap — for small businesses and for the nonprofits who serve our communities. Through our pro bono program, we work with a small number of nonprofit organizations each month, delivering the same quality of work we bring to paying engagements, entirely free of charge.

The arrangement is straightforward and honest: we deliver real technology solutions that create immediate, tangible impact for your organization. In return, we build our portfolio, refine our processes, and deepen our experience working with mission-driven teams. Both sides benefit. That's by design.

We accept one new nonprofit engagement per month. Every engagement is scoped around a specific deliverable and a defined timeline — not an open-ended relationship. We show up, do the work, hand it off, and make sure your team can maintain it independently.

If you're running a lean operation and could use a serious technology partner for a focused project, this program was built for you.

    What We Deliver

    Three areas. Tangible results.

Every engagement is scoped around one area, with a clear deliverable and a defined timeline. No retainers. No ambiguity.

    AI Tools & Automation

Eliminate repetitive manual tasks, automate reporting and communications, and build custom AI-powered tools that free your staff to focus on people — not paperwork. Organizations that implement even basic automation typically reclaim hours each week that go directly back into their mission.

    Web Development

Professional websites, donor-facing landing pages, volunteer intake forms, and custom web applications — built to reflect the quality and credibility of the work you're already doing. Your digital presence should inspire confidence before anyone picks up the phone.

    Tech Strategy

Not sure where to start? We'll conduct an honest assessment of your current tools and workflows, identify the highest-impact opportunities, and hand you a clear, prioritized roadmap you can act on immediately — whether you work with us or not.

A recent client came to us without a professional web presence and with a quoting process that was costing them hours every month. We built a professional website and a custom quote-building application tailored to their workflow. The result: significant time saved each month and a measurable improvement in how prospective clients perceived the business before the first conversation even took place.

Client Result — Small Business Engagement

    Who We Serve

This program is built for organizations like yours.

We work best with small nonprofits that are ready to engage, have a clear and specific problem to solve, and can commit to a focused project timeline. We're not the right fit for every organization — and we'd rather be honest about that upfront than waste your time or ours.

We serve organizations whose missions center on communities, children, families, and individuals in need. If that's you, we want to hear from you.

You are a registered 501(c)(3) or fiscally sponsored nonprofit organization with a limited or nonexistent technology budget

You have a specific, defined problem you're trying to solve — not just a general desire for "better technology"

You have a point of contact who can provide feedback, answer questions, and make decisions during the engagement

You serve communities, children, families, or individuals in genuine need

You are willing to provide a brief testimonial or serve as a case study reference if the work meets your expectations

You can commit to a scoped timeline of four to eight weeks for the engagement

    Our Background

We've been in this space for a long time.

Ark40's founder spent five years leading a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, working directly alongside children's nonprofits and social service organizations. That experience isn't just a line on a résumé — it shapes how we approach every nonprofit engagement. We understand budget constraints, board dynamics, volunteer bandwidth, and the particular frustration of watching technology that could transform your operations sit out of reach.

We bring that perspective to every project. We don't overcomplicate. We don't oversell. We scope work honestly, communicate clearly, and deliver what we say we'll deliver.

We've also been recognized by Prison Professors, an organization dedicated to helping individuals demonstrate their character and value through meaningful work and contribution. We're proud of that recognition and the values it reflects about how we approach our work and our commitments.

Ark40 is a focused, intentional practice — not a large agency chasing volume. We take on a small number of engagements and do them well. For nonprofits, that means you'll work directly with someone who has led a nonprofit, understands the stakes, and treats your mission with the respect it deserves.

    How It Works

    Simple. Scoped. Delivered.

We keep the process lean so we can put our energy into the work itself.

    01

    Apply

Fill out the short application form at the bottom of this page. Tell us about your organization, the specific challenge you're facing, and what a successful outcome would look like for your team. We review every application personally.

    02

    Discovery Call

If there's a good fit, we'll reach out to schedule a 30-minute call. This is a working conversation — we'll dig into the problem, ask direct questions, confirm scope, and make sure we're the right resource for the job before we commit to anything.

    03

    Scoped Engagement

We agree on a specific deliverable, a realistic timeline, and a clear point of contact on your team. Every engagement is four to eight weeks. No open-ended commitments, no scope creep, no ambiguity — just focused work toward a defined outcome.

    04

    Delivery & Handoff

We deliver the completed work, walk your team through it in detail, and make sure you can use and maintain it independently after we're done. Documentation is included. The work belongs entirely to you.

    Our Commitment

What working with us actually looks like.

We want to be direct about what this program is and what it isn't.

This is not a student project, a rushed favor, or a watered-down version of our paid work. Every pro bono engagement receives the same attention, quality, and professionalism we bring to any client. We scope carefully so we can execute well. If we don't think we can deliver meaningful value within the scope of a project, we'll tell you before we start.

What you can expect from us: clear communication throughout, honest feedback when we see something that needs to be said, on-time delivery, and work you're proud to show donors, board members, and the communities you serve.

What we ask of you: a responsive point of contact, timely feedback during the engagement, and a willingness to participate in the handoff so your team can maintain the work independently. We also ask that you're honest with us about your constraints — the more clearly you can describe the problem and your situation, the better we can help.

One important note: because we accept only one new nonprofit engagement per month, we give priority to organizations with the most clearly defined problems and the most direct path to impact. A well-written application that describes a specific challenge will always receive more consideration than a general inquiry.
